Does having fake nails on for a long time damage your real nails?

Does anyone know if you have fake nails on for a while if it hurts your real nails in any way? I put on some this past weekend (not professional...the kind YOU glue) and my friend this I should get them professionally done because they look good with my long fingers.Does having fake nails on for a long time damage your real nails?
Hi,

Yes if you wear them often then fake nails do damage your real nails. They make them weak, brittle and can discolour them as well. You'll also end up with the remains of the glue on your nails, which can be a pain to get off without scratching your nails, or making them peel.

Acrylic nails are good now and then, but don't make a habit of it. Why not focus on getting your real nails long and healthy instead?

~Mystic.Does having fake nails on for a long time damage your real nails?
As a manicurist I can say that any damage is temporary. The amount of damage to the existing nail depends on the person doing the fake nails.

Most of the damage occurs when taking the fake nails off. The fake nail is attached to the uppermost layer of the nail. When the fake nail comes off the top layer goes with it so your nails are a bit weak for about 3 months as the nail grows out. The more aggressive you are in removing the fake nails the more damage to the nail.
It will look better than you doing them yourself, but using anything artificial in leu of what your body has naturally is not good for you in the long run. Keeping the nails on for a month or two won't hurt. You will notice you nails under the fake one become thinner. Keeping them in for months and months at a time can put you at risk for a nail fungus and permanently destroy your nail bed. You might also want to bring you own nail filer to the nail shop. The ones some nail shops use are used. They use them on everyone then use it on you (ewww)
yess it really does damage your fingers, if you want long nails, just grow them out, fake nails for a long time can scratch your real ingernails and terar them off, you could get them proffesionally done but chances are, it will still hurt you real nails
As nice as they look they do make the real other nails underneath weak and kinda flimsy but like it comes back fine and as much as it sucks they look nice and as long as you keep the fake ones on you cant tell
No but if you want your nails long why don't you have extensions put on they shouldn't cost too much it depends on where you go.
yea they could make them weak for a little while, but just take prenatal pills they make your nails strong!

What do you tell the salon person when you want fake nails and a fench manicure on them?

I don't know what to say when i walk in! haha PLEASE HELP! I need them before sadies! What do you tell the salon person when you want fake nails and a fench manicure on them?
same thing you said in the titleWhat do you tell the salon person when you want fake nails and a fench manicure on them?
first say

full set please

then they say what color

you say

french tip please

by the way nice choice
You want french maniculed acryllic nails.

(or if you want to go a bit more fancy fake nails, you want french manicured gel nails)
You should call to make an appointment for a full set of tips. (You should know what type of tips you want) It could take an hour and you don't want to wait around for someone. You get there and they will ask you to pick a color, you say french ~OK~ but you have a choice... white on light pink (which I think is most common) and white on white, which I prefer. The choice is yours. Enjoy!
Ask for ';a full set of pink and white';. they don't chip, look like french and last a lot longer. they always look great.
just say tat you want a'; full set with a french tip, please';
yes, hello, i would like a French manicure after you gimme some new nails that are fake.....
simply ask for nails added, then paint a french manicure.
tell them that u want jelly nails with an french manicure
people who work in salons dont expect you to know the term for every thing. all you have to tell them is that you what to get a french manicure, but you want it done on fake nails.

just get them done at the salon
Don't you think that GOD sees you before and after you pray and sees that you are wearing those sinful nails??

I would not tempt fate and just keep wrapped up tight in a beekeeper outfit and forget about nails. It will catch up with you in the end if you are vein. You need to pray more and ask for forgiveness
Fake nails are tacky.

How old does a kid have t obe to get her unibrow waxed by the friendly chinese people who also do fake nails?

Hi everyone. My 7 year old girl has a major dark brown unibrow with very bushy eyebrows. I was wondering if she is old enough to get those brows waxed at a specialist or not? Has anyone else had their kids eyebrows waxed and at what age did you start this? Thanks everyone!!How old does a kid have t obe to get her unibrow waxed by the friendly chinese people who also do fake nails?
Well I took my daughter in soon after being born. She had that funky fur all over her body when she was born and it just grossed me the hell out. It was keeping me from bonding properly with her. The nice ladies at the salon just coated her in that numbing stuff so she didn't feel it. Her skin was a little red and swollen for the next few days, but it was well worth it.How old does a kid have t obe to get her unibrow waxed by the friendly chinese people who also do fake nails?
i first got my eyebrows done at 14 . . .

I was wondering how old do you have to be to get nails and what will happen if you keep them on to long?I am asking this because I am going to go to my friends sister comunion and my sister wants to get fake nails but my mom won't lets her can somone help me out?How old do you have to be to get fake nails and what will happen if you have them to long?
There is no certain age you have to be to get fake nails.

If they are are done at a nail salon, they're perfectly harmless.

Nothing will happen if you keep you keep them on to long except you natural nail will grow out and you'll have to get a fill-in.

Hope this helped:)How old do you have to be to get fake nails and what will happen if you have them to long?
    You can be any age.

If your planing to get them done at the nail salon its exspensive.

But they stay on way longer and are nicer and don't fall off.

They do ruin your nails and make them thinner.

If you get ones at the store and do it yourself its easier.

They don't stay on as long, you can take them off.

There's nothing wrong with it, just tell her that your just wearing it for the comminuion to look nicer.

    :D

    hope this helps!
you can get fake nails at any age and nothing harmful should happen if you leave them for too long.
there is not age liit, but they can cause nail daage becUSE OF THE GLUE, JUST REPLACE THEM.

    sorry for the caps

What do you think of fake tan and hair extensions and fake nails?

some people think that people who do theses things are fake but i don't think that do preferably prefer my natural tan i have long hair any way but i do like false nails i just woundered what you thought about people who do these because they are insecure but i necessarily think its coz they think it looks nice. What do you think of fake tan and hair extensions and fake nails?
Well, I think if you are going to have any of thsoe 3 things, they have GOT to be done professionally so you can tell they aren't fake.

Extensions only look nice if they are the same exact colour of your hair and have been applied properly so you can't see the join and they must be cut and styled after you have put them in. Also, fake tan I don't like, but I'm naturally brown anyway. Fake nails should never be snowy white and square-cut because that is just blantent fakeness. Have them rounded and painted.

XXWhat do you think of fake tan and hair extensions and fake nails?
I have done all three, and am very real. I get a fake tan if I am going to a special event ex: wedding, award ceremony, ball, my birthday etc. I have only wore extensions once a long time ago and loved it. It is so much fun. I have long hair now and don't need to. However if I could afford it I would buy a wig with short hair maybe a bob like Victoria Beckhamp, because I miss short hair sometimes. I used to have fake nails for 6 years. They weren't long. I used to get what is called ';the pink and white'; I loved it because they were so low maintenance and always looked nice and professional. I decided to stop because it damages the nails and it gets expensive. I will still continue to get manicures and pedicures.

To answer your questions, I think different people do it for different reasons. Ex: Show biz people kind of have to get tans and extensions because of the nature of their biznes, others like like you and I dont have to. It is ok for everyonce in a while to glam it up, but all the time.... I would say that person does not like themselves and is a bit shallow
HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT!!! why try and be something your not?! just be yourself! i never use fake tan, wear fake nails or hair extensions! if you are trying to get attention from blokes then you are attracting the wrong kind of bloke as they are after your looks and not your personality!

women who wear fake tan always look awful, orange, streaky, dirty! its not nice and i don't know how the women wearing it cant tell its not a good look and i don't know why their families let them out of the house looking like it!!

fake hair really does look hideous and fake nails, well you can always tell they are FAKE!!!!
i wear fake tan and hair extensions

and i always get complimented :)

but thats because my hair looks really natural

and my fake tan is more of a subtle glow rather than bright orange

i dont think you can judge someone who has hair extensions, fake nails and a fake tan

because its there choice and why the hell should it bother anyone else

it does NOT mean they are cheap sl ags

its all about matter of choice
i think its over the top and tacky.

if you have a nice tan, pretty nails, or long hair, thats great for you, but if you don't, then why bother with all that stuff. plastic nails dont look attractive, they just look stupid, incoveniant, and a waste of time and money.

i'm not one of these people who rabbit on about natural beauty and how no one should wear any make up, but i just think that sewing/clipping bits of fake or other people's hair onto your head is ridiculous, don't you have better things to do with your time?
I think it we do it because we like it!!. Its personal taste. I personally wouldnt have a fake tan or hair extensions because i dont like them, i do have a natural tan and past shoulder length hair, but i have and i do wear false nails, i decorate them with nail art myself, my reason is, because i like them!!!
I don't think people who do these things are fake. I think some can look it if they get to carried away though. But otherwise I think most people have tried any of those things at some point in time. Just because someone wants longer hair, nicer nails, or a tan, fake or not, doesn't necessarily mean they are fake people.
i hate fake boobs, nails and hair, in fact i hate everything fake, especially when it comes to appearance. why do women feel the need to cover themselves in this fake crap? we can spot it a mile off and it's not a good look. tangerine skin, with acrylic nails and someone else's hair, lmao, what a joke.
well I'm not keen on fake tan unless it looks nice and not orange like some peoples do

i have extensions up to my chest and it looks good i wear it because i have hair that flicks so when i put them in it stays straight :)

i love false nails unless they are to long

if people wanna look that way they should go for it :)

    x
I think fake tans are stupid, because they make you look orange and sometimes it isn't even. I say put on some sunscreen and just sit out in the sun, I am naturally tan. Hair extensions: just grow your hair out! I think fake nails are god, the ones you glue on, because the real ones ruin your nails!

    =)
i think that people who do that are normal. everyone wants to do things that make them look and feel better. i hate when people use the work fake because nobodys fake unless there plastic or anyother non-human like thing. I have a spray tan and hair extensions too. Its deff doesnt make you fake.
I personally love all these things but i would probably only wear 2 together so i dont look too fake.

but i think it is up to you wat you want to dress or look like and you shouldnt let anyone tell you wat to do :)
Using this stuff is expensive and means that you aren't working what you've got. The fake nails are noticed by girls only - guys really don't care about your nails at all (so long as they are clean and painted).
Extended hair takes hell of a care and people end up cutting it at some point. Fake tan... well, with the weather you have in the UK there is no other way to get tanned, LOL
Well i wear hair extensions sometimes %26amp; tinted moistiuer %26amp; sometimes fake nails nothing round with it it looks natural
Makes me wonder what else is fake and usually it is the person's character and/or personality.
as long as the fake tans not orange, as long as the extention clips are not visible and as long as the persons fake nails look natural.

    =]
None of them work for men. That is to say men should not indulge in any of them and real men would not encourage real women to indulge either.

Real men like real (authentic) women.
i think fake tans make youu look orange.

extentions are arite but dont make them to long or they will look fake.

fake nails are okayy but not scary long.
i think they are creepy. and the same about fake eyelashes and coloured contact lenses.
If you want everyone to know you come from Essex or at least think you do crack on.
    it makes a person fake!
whats wrong with just being yourself ?
gay y do you want to dress up like a doll

Can I get a French manicure without having to get acrylic nails or fake nails? ?

I just want my nails painted with the neutral color and the white tips. They aren't super long, but they're not short either. Will nail stylists do that? If they do, how much does it cost? Sunday is my 18th and I want them to be super cute! Can I get a French manicure without having to get acrylic nails or fake nails? ?
Absolutely ! They will give you a manicure and then

use one of a variety of available pink and also white (or off-white) polish.

You should have a top coat at home to apply everyother day to help the polish last as long as possible and of course apply a quality nail oil every night.

Please choose a clean nail salon/ nail technician. If you need info on how to know for sure let me know.

How do i remove my fake nails?

i got my fake nails on last week and im trying to take them off now. i already removed one on my thumb nail and it damaged it. it is now cut really short and bleeding a bit. i researched a bit and they said to use acetone but i dont have any. will warm water work? How do i remove my fake nails?
No warm water will not work. You need the Acetone. Do you have any nail polish remover? Check and see if it has acetone in it, there are Non-acetone and Acetone polish removers. If you do have some acetone polish remover it should be strong enough to soak your nails in. The nail will sslowlymelt and you can scrape the melted aacrylicoff every few minutes til it is completely off. Other than that, if you need them off now and can't go to a salon, you can pop them off. I do not advise that. It seriously damages your nails and you will have horrible looking nails until the nail grows out.How do i remove my fake nails?
no. You have to use acetone, and even that doesnt work very well. Go back to the salon and have them removed, painlessly. Or take something thin, like a metal nail file or toothpick and try to seperate the acrylic from you natural nail and pry it off.... IT HURTS. You best bet is to just leave them on until they start to grow out and the acrylic loosens.
Put finger nail polish in a bowl. The stick your hands in it and rub it all around and underneath the fake nails. Then you can easily pull them off.
get a bottle of pure acetone ... or nail polish that has acetone in it and soak your nails in it for about a half hour or 45 minutes ... they will start to disintegrate and you can wipe it off ... xo
You need to remove them with professional strength acetone or go to a nail salon and have them remove them. If you continue all your nails are going to be damaged and painful. Good Luck!
nail polish remover usually helps take the nails off.
your real nails will be damaged even after you take the fake nails off. try soaking them in nail polish that might work. thats what I used.
use acetone nail polish remover and if you don't feel that safe go back to the shop to get them removed
Do you have any nail polish remover? Because that contains a bit of acetone. Hot water wont work
GO TO THE SALON %26amp; GET THEM REMOVED

i've never had fake nails, but my friend does a lot and she said nail polish remover gets it off.

How do you remove fake nails/gels, preferably without acetone?

I cut mine down with finger nail clippers then just jerk them off..Hurts but it dont cost me a dime! Good Luck!!How do you remove fake nails/gels, preferably without acetone?
I bite mine off and it hurts really bad lol.. but you can go to the salon and pay like 10 or 15 dollars to get them taken off! =]How do you remove fake nails/gels, preferably without acetone?
a non-acetone based polish remover. it will take longer to dissolve them but it beats the pain of chewing them off.

wear a mask, its not the smell you should be concerned with but chemicals you inhale. Just wear a 3M mask. I doubt the nail polish you are using has caused your previous miscarraiges but it never hurts to be cautious with a spa there all sorts of stuff in the air.
I really don't know but that's a very crucial question to ask your doctor! don't hesitate to call him tomorrow morning!
its fine i do hair and nails and everything is safe color and all
it is not good all the time you need air!
As long as you are in a well venilated area you should be fine. You can also wear a mask. I am a hairstylist and do perms and color almost everyday. As always ask your doctor.

When getting fake nails done is there a difference between tips and have the over lay?

i would like to have mine done but I dont want my natural nails cut or filed down.

can this be done? When getting fake nails done is there a difference between tips and have the over lay?
If you already have long nails, they can just put the acrylic on top of your nails and paint them however you want them. If you want white tips they can paint them that way for you. I get mine done like that alot because I don't have to worry about popping a tip off. It is my real nail underneathe the acrylic. I hope this helps you! When getting fake nails done is there a difference between tips and have the over lay?
Yes... But they wont last as long and they have to grind down your real nails anyways to get the acrylic to stick to your nails. So... even if you dont have your nails cut down and plastic tips applied... your real nails are going to be destroyed by the sanding.
tips look way better. just tell who ever is doing then that you dont want them cut of filed. she should be able to do this
    TIPS VS OVER LAY

Tips are when they place a plastic extension on the tip of your nail to make them longer or make them all the same length. Yes they need to file your nail bed to keep the life of the fake nails. And the reason they cut them down is to prevent fungus growing between your real nail and the fake nail. You will notice for people who have had the fake nails for a long time and their real nails have grown underneath the fake nail the nails are yellow and things get stuck between their.

Over lays are not much better they still need to file your nails and if you real nails are uneven they want to cut them down so the are all the same Lenght since they put the acrylic directly on you nail.

My personal experience with fake nail they are not going to help your nails grow. No matter how long your nail gets under the acrylic or tip once they come off your nails are 10X's weaker the before and depending on how Long you keep doing the fake nail your nails can take months to years to repair themselves.
If you dont want to cut your nails or you dont want to ruin your real nails. If you do your nails will be as thin a paper.so just get a manicure, then when youre nails are long.they could put acylic on your real nails.and you just get your real nails filled-in.
any nail extentions will require nails to be filled, the tips, are usually tips attached to the tips of your nail with glue, then acrylic or gel pained over both your nail and the tip to give an even finish, then they are filled to perfect. the overlay is the product used over the nail or the nail and tip, there are products that can be used directly over the natural nail, saving you having your nails filed down.

How can I get my fake nails off?

I moved to Germany and here they don't do acrylic nails, how can I get them off?How can I get my fake nails off?
HOT WATER! How can I get my fake nails off?
if there is no salon there that does acrylic nails and is able to remove them, your best bet is to soak them acetone (nailpolish remover) for a long time... and use a big nail clipper to remove them, piece by piece, don't try to remove the whole nail at once, it will hurt. doing it yourself will take some time. i always get impatient and end up biting them off... which ends up hurting your teeth, so don't do that! try acetone and nail clippers.
you can try putting hot water, or another safer way is putting them in nailpolish, all the glue will go away and they will fall off.
    alrightyy.

your going to have to soak your fingers in acitone nail polish remover.

while they are soaking try to pull them off slowly.
I think you can burn them off.
soak them in hot water or just pry them off with a nail clipper.they may have glue and markings all over them but it will go away eventually.
Soak them in hot water and than nail polish remover, it loosens them so their easy to pull off.
Go to where you get your nails done, and get them to take them off.

What sort of glue can I use to re glue on fake nails?

There from Claire's. The glue that came with it dried up, and one nail fell off. Is there a glue I can buy that will work? What sort of glue can I use to re glue on fake nails?
Any other nail glue. Or super glue, its the same thing. What sort of glue can I use to re glue on fake nails?
The Claire's glues really don't work well. At the drugstore, there's a Revlon ';Naturally Chic'; Fake French Nail kit that comes with a super-strong glue. I've used it many times before, and the glue stays on for a very long time and the nails won't fall off unless you soak it in nail polish remover.

The glue itself is better than the nails, so I don't really recommend using the nails that come with it, because they chip too easily.
I usually use the BROADWAY fake nails and they come with glue in the box. It's a lot like superglue so that could be an alternative, but you can find nail glue at pharmacies and drugstores as well. Be careful when glueing on your nails, once I accidentally glued my fingers together!
i think nail glue should work or crazy glue.

Use pure acetone. Pour some in a glass bowl. Soak the nails for about 20 minutes. Then, without removing them from the acetone, start scraping with an orangewood stick. Scrape and soak until all the product is off.

    polish remover will not work.

If your acrylics have a gel overlay then make sure you file the nail to break the seal before soaking.
You could always just carefully peel them off but i wouldnt do that :) It could damage the surface of your nails real bad. Instead you can just soak them in warm water. They should come off painlessly and easily. Hope i helped ♥♥
Soak them in Nail Polish Remover WITH acetone. (That is if they were professionally done) You need to soak them for a while, not like 5 minutes.. try like a half hour and they should melt/loosen up so you can get them off! Good Luck.
soke them under hot water for 5 min and then peel them off or you can go to the nail salon and they will take them off for you.

I don't know if you actually CAN do that. Cuz if you use just regular glue or something, it could mess up your nails.

They sell individual packages with just nail glue in them. You could find some at Walgreens, CVS, Target, etc. Any store like that. I suggest just running out and getting some more.

If you wanna just take the nails off, soak them in some acetone nail polish remover (which you can buy at the same type of stores) until they get soft and you can take them off. Or sometimes warm water works, too. But it'll probably take longer, and might not work as well.

Good luck. :)How do i stick fake nails on without any glue?
yo can't actually ! make some warm water and dip your hand so glue will dissolve and yo can take off the rest !! better luck next time
    Staples would work.

  • How can I make sure that my fake nails will stay on tomorrow?

So I want some fake nails for the start of school, which is tomorrow for me. But I know that I'm gonna be doing lots with my hands and I don't know if they will like, slow me down?

So how can I be sure that they won't?

Oh, also, should I get ';petite nails'; or ';really short nails';?

Thanks!!! :)How can I make sure that my fake nails will stay on tomorrow?
Go %26amp;%26amp; get it done at a salon. Belive me , those suckers dont come off even if you yank at them FOR AN HOUR straight ugh. Lol but theyre really pretty. Get gel =D

go to beauty supply store, they have gel remover, probably have to soak them out

Go to a professional licensed nail tech at a salon and they can soak them off so that you're natural nails aren't damaged.

What's the best way to take fake nails off?

I got my nails done for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I don't want to get them filled but I don't want to go in and have them take them off. Is there any way to do it at home? Anything I can buy to help or something? Thanks! What's the best way to take fake nails off?
use pure acetone, the nail polish remover with acetone in it isnt strong enough, it will take FOREVER. acetone takes a long time too though. i've found the easiest way to get them off is to just file them down and let them grow out. they will be easier to pop off in a few weeks and they wont cause quite as much damage as trying to pop them off now, since they will slowly become detached from your real nail. What's the best way to take fake nails off?
Paint thiner!!!!!!!!!! Good luck jus remeber to put on lotion after that stuff drys your hands out bad
its hard but just like pop them off!!!
soak your nails in pure acetone (found next to nail polish remover).
soak them in nail polish remover or a product like Acetone based ..Also there is a product in the sally hassen line that could also help you in removing your fake nails
when you get them taken off at nail salons they have you hold your fingers in a bowl of nailpolish remover...it weakens the glue and then you can pop them off easily...you can use a nail file (not an embry board) and kind off pop them off or you can use your fake nails....

also go to walmart or some place and buy some sally hansen strong growth nails and apply that daily to get your nails to grow faster and stronger.
soak them in nailpolish remover until you can pull them off easily.
There are products on the market that can take them off! Go to Target or Walmart and check out the nail polish section.
you need something acetone to soak them off . this is the best thing i have mne done regularly.

you can buy in the chemist or boots soak them dont pick them.

most of those things in the list in your question are the things the nail salon workers put on, in, or on top of your real nails to make the fake ones stick. you most likely will have to go back to the salon for free to get them taken off in a special bowl of remover.

After removing fake nails, I now have a permanent crack in one of my nails. How can I cure this?

I have tried an anti-fungal ointment and tea tree oil but neither one helped. After removing fake nails, I now have a permanent crack in one of my nails. How can I cure this?
I've been told that what I have from the last time I had acrylic nails (maybe it's different than yours?) is internal damage and there's nothing that can be done to reverse it, but it WAS caused by the drills or the harsh removal of the acrylic. I have a smooth, white line running right up the center of my right thumb nail and when it grows out, it's actually thinner on the underneath side of the nail so it breaks or splits BADLY and very easily. Not good. I'm gonna watch this post and see if there's other suggestions or you describe your damage better for us. THANKS!After removing fake nails, I now have a permanent crack in one of my nails. Ahh, sorry - I've been told there's nothing I can do about it ...from my (NEW) manicurist to my Dr.!

This has happened to me. I bought vitamen E capsuls, broke them open and rubbed it on the area. It worked for me.
When my finger nail cracks down the middle I eat more jello. It takes a while to grow back, but it works.
You should only wear fake nails 3 days at a time. Leave them off for 2 days. Your nails need air to stay healthy. To make your nails stronger, eat gelitan, a.k.a. JELL-O. It takes time to repair or grow out the crack.
Hopefully you can grow it out - which in that case, you can just clip it off, albeit it may ACTUALLY be permanent ..
This may be an emotional issue due to the fact that nothing physical is helping. Each finger muscle stores different emotions, if you want to know, which finger is it???
It's not really curable, you just have to let it grow out. nails do grow pretty quick, it will probably be completely grown out to the point where you can clip it off for your next manicure in about a month. I would not recommend getting new fake nails on it until after it has grown out becuase of the risk of fungal growth between the real and fake nails. Continue to apply the antifungal ointment in the meantime though and it should be good as new in a month.

  • How easily do fake nails come off?

Do the glued ones last longer? How easily do fake nails come off?
The glue on ones, only last for a day or two, depending on if you plan to be very careful with your hands (which is practically impossible, seeing as a person uses them every five seconds).

Acrylics are the best, they last about a month. HOWEVER, they ruin your real nails. And you run the risk of getting an infection in your nail bed from the tools that the nail place uses. And they can be very painful to get off. A friend had a nail actually RIP off of her finger WITH the plastic one... Very painful. How easily do fake nails come off?
If you are just glueing tips on, I don't see how they last longer than acrylic ones. The acrylic ones can be weakend by soaking in acetone (polish remover). Once you weaken then you can clip them and use something like a nail tip and try to pry off from between the natural nail and the fake nail.
The glued ones won't last that long, maybe a week depending on what you're doing with your hands, but that's what you get for something that cost æ‹¢3. My thumb nail came off while I was carrying a rucksack and the nail got wedged with one of the carry straps and popped off. The professional ones are supposed to last for weeks, though I've never had them.
Nope the glue ones do not last longer than the ones you get done at the salon because they use a special glue.

But the way I take them off I get any type of card, (credit card, library card, etc.) and then i take it of from the bottom of the nail. It does hurt a little bit, but you have to stand the pain! Hope I helped!
the glue on ones pretty much suck, go with acrylic. they last a long time, %26amp; even when they atrt to wear down, just go back to the salon %26amp; get a fill in. when you do that they look brand new again. but if you want them off, use nail polish remover with acetone %26amp; soak your nails in them until they are loose enough to pop off. it works, but no matter what your nails will be damaged afterwards.
the glued one (like at the store) don't last long but i don't know how they come off cuz i've never used them. Acrilics last really long but OWWWWWWW it hurts to take them off and i will never get them because when my mom got them they broke down her nails. i'd just let your nails grow out.
yes gluded ones last longer.. well to make them come up, you have to soak them in hot water. it works 100%, thats what i do.

taking off fake nails can damage your real nails... it's not always good, but you can still give the hot water a try, if you really needs it to come off right away.
acrylics will last you the longest but they are also the hardest to come off but press on ones dont last that long
acrylics will last the longest but can be painful to remove and will damage your real nail.

Talk to ur nail salon...!!!How to remove fake nails without damaging them?
soak your fingers in hot water, it'll loosen them up.
Massage baby oil in to the base of your nail, this should loosen them. However, you should know they will be hard to re apply because the glue underneath is thick and adding additional glue does not work very well.

    or

Just leave them on to 3 weeks and they will pop off on their own while you are washing your hair.

Is there a certain length your nails need to be to get fake nails put on?

I want to get my nails done, cuz i bite mine (hints the reson for fake nails) and want to know if or how long i need to grow them out.Is there a certain length your nails need to be to get fake nails put on?
You don't need to grow them. My ex-wife also used to bite her nails, and got them done in order to protect her real nails while they grew. She would get French cut style.

By the way, to prevent or reduce the chance of getting fungus, apply distilled vinegar twice per day without fail. Damaged nails/cuticles run the risk of developing nail fungus.

For those of you with nail fungus, do this for 6 months without fail. It will grow out without the side effects of Lamisil. Is there a certain length your nails need to be to get fake nails put on?
you dont. they cut them down all the way down before they'll put the acrylics on.
that's the reason i got acrylics put on. sometimes when i get them, they actually clip my real nail before putting the fake tip on.

if there's a nail on your finger, they'll be able to apply a fake nail and acrylic to it.
makes no difference how long. you can put fake nails on even if you chew em off until it bleeds ... (gross ....)

but no need to worry just go ahead with the lenght that you have right now :)
i dun put fake nails on... why dun u juz grow them!! in 3-4 weeks it'll be long... and it look fab...
you dont need to grow them out but be prepared cause you will start biting on these also. I am also a biter.
I don't think it actually matters. Don't fake nails get glued onto the nail that covers your finger, not the white part that grows past?
no but don't bite them or you will eaisly get infections when they put on fakes. It did it once and that was enough they strat to hurt start to peel off and than the nail beneth is ruined tender and damaged.

How long do fake nails usually last? How to maintain them?

i dont really know any name brands but usually fake nails stay on for like 2 or 3 weeks if u maintain them.and to do that u cant bang them on tables bite them or any thing like that.
I've seen commercials for Kiss press-on French nails.

How short can you get your fake nails?

I want to get my nails done soon but I can't ahve my nails very long since I tend to use my hands ALOT, so i'll want the fake nails to be kind of short. Is that possiable? Or should i just go get a mani and pedi? But the thing is my nails are already REALLY short and i dont want to wait till they grow to the length I want. Thanks for your helps guys!!How short can you get your fake nails?
Clipping you fake nails can be tricky, especially if you have never done it before. If not done carefully enough, (and depending on the type) they could crack and look really bad. You can get your fake nails as long or short as you prefer, so if you want them only slightly longer than your natural nails, then you can get them to where you can barely even see them over your fingers if you turn them facing away from you. After you have them awhile, though, you get used to them and can fully function normally with them. :D Hope I helped!!!How short can you get your fake nails?
ywah you can get them short ive gotten them really short, they ask you how long or how short do you want them and you just tell them and theyll cut the acrylic nail where ever u want them to cut it at.

    Like these:

    http://images.smarter.com/blogs/long%20n鈥?/a>

What if he wanted the nails filed sharp like claws and for you to scratch him with them? How would you feel about this? Would you do it for him? What if your husband wanted you to wear long fake nails?
i would do it if it made my man happy, i love the feeling of my nails ripping his skin from his back when we make loveWhat if your husband wanted you to wear long fake nails?
That would require for me to be attracted to him. And I find my husband repulsive because he's an alcoholic a**hole. So to be honest, if he asked me to do that I would laugh in his face and assume he's just drunk.
There is no way that I would ever want nails that long. They would break too easily and you could not do anything with them. I use to wear artificial nails but not that long.
Gross! I don't know any men who'd like that. My husband hates fake nails, or anything fake for that matter. He can't even stand it when I get my nails polished.
THose are disgusting I never liked nail like that. But if my husband wanted me to than I probably would but just for a night than take them off.

What are the differences between the 3 types of fake nails: acrylic, gel, and silk?

I've only used acrylic. They are very thick, and I can't go without nail polish. Do silk or gel appear more natural? What are the differences between the 3 types of fake nails: acrylic, gel, and silk?
Acrylic, you know what that is, the powder and liquid. The gel is a powder they apply to your own nail and wet it with gel to make your nail stronger. Silk is actually silk, cut to the length and width of your nail and applied with a liquid and buffed.. There are also solar nails, like the acrylic, but they use two different powders (pink and white) and they dont polish them, just buff with a cream....they can make all of them thin if that is what you want. I would try them to see which you favor more. Everyone's tastes are different.

Those rings mean they are drilling at your cuticle too deep at each fill in. You definitely should find someone else. They just look at you as another fill in and not trying to keep you. They would not be doing this if they were more professional and careful. What are the differences between the 3 types of fake nails: acrylic, gel, and silk?
Maybe it's not the fact they are acrylic.... but the technique of your nail tech! The people I currently go to now do very nice natural looking acrylic nails for me. find a different tech and see if they don't do better work.
gel is more natural definatly, i dont know the sciece behind, but thas silk is not whats up!

Does acetone(from nail polish remover) ';melt'; or dissolve fake nails?

I am going to buy nail polish remover with acetone, to take the dried up glue from my fake nails off so i can use them again..

but doesnt acetone melt or dissolve fake nails?

Because i once had fake nails on, and i painted over them with nail polish and they melted..

thanks!Does acetone(from nail polish remover) ';melt'; or dissolve fake nails?
somtimes it does.Does acetone(from nail polish remover) ';melt'; or dissolve fake nails?
    NO
it will ruin them...it will make them sticky and you will have to take them off and throw them away..plus they will look awful
it never works, i have sat around for hours with my nails dipped in acetone but it does not work. i just pry them off with a pocket knife and then go get them re done
Acetone is what you use to remove your fake nails. I did this a few weeks ago and from what i saw acetone really is more for getting off the glue and not for ';melting'; or dissolve fake nails. It bubbles the nails up pretty bad though so if you want to use the nails again DO NOT remove them with acetone. Go to the pros at a nail shop and have them take them off instead!
if you overexpose them yes. if you place one in a jar with acetone it will dissolve. Using it to remove nail polish is fine
    yes
I use it to take off my fake nail it does not melt of dissolve. I dip it in the acetone %26amp; then you just peel it off

Do you have to have fake nails for a french manicure?

My mom won't let me have fake nails. So I need to need to know. She won't because it ruins the real nail. Or at least thats what she said.Do you have to have fake nails for a french manicure?
No, you don't, you just have to have them long enough to paint the tipsDo you have to have fake nails for a french manicure?
As far as potentially ruining your real nails, your mother is correct. Having ';fake'; nails attached weakens the underlying natural nail - sometimes permanently.

That being said, you do not need fake nails to get a french manicure. I do not have fake nails and I sometimes get a french manicure. You just have to have your natural nails long enough for the manicurist to paint the tip.
Having fake nails are great because the French Manicure looks fantastic, and it's so easy to apply them. However, it really does ruin your real nails. Because of the glue, when you try to remove it, it scraps and destroys the nail. Anyways, you don't necessarily need to get fake nails to have a French Manicure. You can just paint them that way.

First, cute your nails to a decent length. You don't want them stubby short, and you don't want them to be disgustingly long. Next, you need to file them, to make them nice and smooth. Then, you need to push back your cuticles. Finally, you needa put on a base coat.

Next, after the base coat is dried, apply a soft pink nail polish. It's a good idea to apply a second coat.

Then, your going to need to have patience and time, because next, you hafta apply the white tip. It's not as hard as it seems. But if you only have a certain amount of time, and little patience, it's going to be hard. Get a WHITE nail polish. NOT CREAM!! Cream will come up too like and you'll be able to see it though the other nail polish. Start from the left corner of your nail, and work it going across.

Finally, after that's done drying, apply a top coat, to prevent it from chipping, and to keep it shiny and lasting long.

    Hope it helps ! :]

    x
Well some people believe the glue is good for your nails.

Cough Its just super glue so it does ruin your real nails.

Hell people just wear them for style!

Any who either grow out your nails alittle so they can have a little tip. They don't have to be long.

Or you can try ever last french nails although they are fake nails they aren't like the others. Just snap on a go!
You can pick up the nail polish kits @ Walmart or any drug store. you do have to have some length to your real nails to make it look right, but not a lot of length is needed.
I never use fake nails, If your nails are long enough buy a french manicure set that's what I use on my nails. Doesn't damage them %26amp; is cheaper that going to a professional %26amp; paying for fake nails.
No you can just paint them, however it'll probably chip off faster that's why some people think its better to do it with fake nails. But you can do them on your real nail.
lol no!!! fake nails are out anyway. and yes, they do ruin the real nail over time.
    Nooo

If you get french tips, most teens get them.

no, you can paint them the way it is. i paint my nails french mainucure all da time n it looks real cute! ( i have short nails). gudd luck!
yes you can have fake nails 4 a french manicure. to make them look '; real'; i wouldnt have it to long
No. They can paint the white tips on your real nails. Doesn't last half as long though.
I just grow my nails out naturally.

They look great as long as you file your nails and try and keep them even.
no u can just paint them like that
no, didn't you just buy a set at walgreens?

Does fake nails work, or do they ruin your nails?

I got these fake nail kit, and its the kind that you just glue ontop of your nail. When you take them off do they damage your nails? Because I want to know before I even think about putting them on. Thanks!Does fake nails work, or do they ruin your nails?
they do, but it's much better for you than acrylics. I wear fake nails ALL the time, and the reason I wear them is because my natural nails are already thin, and I just can't grow them out, and I like all the designs you can get. They do damage your nails, but it's not like it's irreversible or you'll ruin your nails if you keep on doing it. It's like straightening or blowdrying your hair everyday, is it damaging? yes, but it really is not a big deal and your hair still can be healthy while doing that. If you're really worried, put on a coat of nail hardener before you apply your nails. The box says to have your nails completely clean, but they'll still stick fine with nail hardener on.Does fake nails work, or do they ruin your nails?
I have never had fake nails but have had several friends that have. I take extra calcium and have beautiful nails, my friends' nails are pretty but every single one of them have tried to ';get off'; using fake nails and can't seem to because their natural nails are ugly. They make the natural nails weak and brittle, it's always nice to be natural and pretty. Don't even start! ALWAYS be yourself and be happy with it! You'll never regret it.
they do damage your nails! they make them thinner! unless you go to my special place (they might have them near you) where they are just a coating, natural nail filling that just makes it stronger and it looks just like and even better than fake nails, and they don't put all that powder and junk on it!
They dont at all! Their just not as strong
    they ruin them.

    Just grow your nails out.

I find fake nails to be just that- really, obviously fake.

How do you easily get off fake nails? Like ones you get done professionally. How do you get off fake nails?
soak your nails in a nail polish remover that contains acetone. it will soften the nails and they will start to kinda melt off.

good luck. How do you get off fake nails?
Soak in acetone. It takes a while though and will be messy as the acrylic disintegrates.
go to walmart and get nail remover (fake nail) follow the directions and don't try to pull or pry them off.
Either regular finger nail polish or go out and buy some acidtone.
Get some nail polish remover with acetone and soak each one in it for a couple of minutes and they generally come off pretty easy. Also try using fingernail clippers to help you take them off after you soak them. OR..you could just go to any nail salon and they will take them off for you, usually for around 5 bucks. So, that saves you the time and hassle of having to go buy the remover and taking them off yourself.
soak them in PURE acetone ( a big bottle canbe found at any beauty supply store for less than $5) dont use regular nail polish remover...they normally put so many other chemicals in it that is is not as strong (pure acetone is what they use at the salons as well)

any small pieces that are stuck to your nail after you soak them can be pulled off with clippers....the nail will be soft and not hurt when you pull them off
they have this new acetone thing... you should try it
Soak them in Fingernail Polish remover with Acetone.. :-)
    with fake nail remover.
    Soak in nail polish remover.
stick ure hands in hot water, the glue loosens and then justpull them off, it works on me and never hurts.
Soak your fingers in warm water then get a nail cuticle pusher and peel em off.
just soak your nails in nail remover!
Fake nails need to be chewed off, no other way!
it takes a little while and patience. the best thing to do is let them grow out a good bit as if you would really need a refill. get some ascetone (make sure that its 100%). soak one hand at a time and just let them sit there. eventually they will loosen up and you will be able to grab them at the opening and lift them up with nail clippers. be patient...it takes a long time. after you have them all off...make sure that you put lotion on your hands because of the acetone.
whatever you do, DON'T try just taking them off. it will screw u your nails and just look bad.

depends on your age bcuz if your about 17 nd younger your nails are still growing so it will ruin them..my mom wont let me get them done bcuz she was a nail technition and she knows all about nails..Is the safe to use fake nails with adhesive glue?
it doesn't matter because when you get nails done with acrylic powder they use glue to hold the tips on just acrylic look more real and nice

How can I remove my fake nails?

I have had some fake nails on for about a week. 2 of the nails suddenly fell off and now it looks really weird. I want to remove the other nails, but they are really stuck on there because of the nail glue. I would rather not have to go to the store and buy some expensive product.....if I could use common household products to remove them, that would be great. I don't want to be in a lot of pain or crack my real nails. Any suggestions? How can I remove my fake nails?
I don't know of any household products, so you should go to a local drugstore and buy pure acetone. It's a liquid that has a really strong odor, but it'll take your fake nails off. Just pour the acetone in a bowl and let your fingertips soak in there for a couple of minutes. The acetone makes the fake nails soft, and thus, easier to remove. Acetone is pretty inexpensive. Plus they usually come in different size bottles. I would just buy the smallest one they have cuz you only need enought to soak your fingertips.

But I'd also suggest buying a nail buffer if you don't already have one. Acetone can make your real nails kinda weak/brittle. When I use acetone, I make sure to buff my nails once I've removed the fake nails. Then I usually put lotion or a cuticle cream on my nails. How can I remove my fake nails?
yu should go to the salon and buy 100% acetone, because regular nail polish remover acetone only contains about 62.5% of acetone and that's not strong enough, then once you've purchased it, take a disposable deep plate, place acetone, and dip your nails in, it should take about 1/2 an hour, for quicker results file your nails before applying the acetone.
dip them in hot water, and use something like a tool in nail clippers, and go around the edges to loosen the nail, then slowly take it off.
Go to a beauty supply store and buy Acetone. It's not expensive and it just melts the fake nails. It's up to you to remove the excess.
You can easily get them removed at the salon, which is usually 5$
put acetone on cotton balls then put the cotton ball on your nail and wrap it in aluminum wait a couple of minutes then just peal the rest off.
dip your nails in water for 10 minutes, and they should be easier to get off.

or use acetone nail polish removerr
use acitone.. .like whats in nail polish remover
acetone, but becareful when useing it.
go to the end of the nail an if u dont mine pain bite it an it should come of :)
well i just take the fake ones and take the side and pull

How do chicks with long fake nails wipe their butts?

Seriously, how is this possible? How do chicks with long fake nails wipe their butts?
http://www.comfortwipe.com/How do chicks with long fake nails wipe their butts?
OMG, I have always wondered. I love long nails but not more than 1/2 an inch for me. But some ladies have nails that must be over 6 inches and they need to type with a pencil. I've come to a conclusion that they must wrap some stick with t.p then wipe. Or they don't wipe at all. Really if they did attempt to wipe they would break their nails or they would bet nastiness all under their nails. YUK!
    LMFAO.

not to be racist but 99.9% of the girls with long *** nails are black....and the ones that are black with really long *** nails are really ghetto.

so they're *** is already spread so far apart from the many ***** that have been in it that it probably takes one swipe to wipe.
you dont wipe your butt with your fingernails, you wipe it with your fingers, so therefore, it's possible! =]

The long fake nails are glued on the their fingers making it very hard for the nails to fall off. So they can do anything and the nails wont fall off until like a month later.

    Lolz (=
im sure they still can lol

How do I get rid of my new fake nails? ( I have had anxillary surgery following breast cancer)?

I just got false nail tips with an acrylic coating but bumped one and its sore. I remembered that I have to be careful of my hands as I have have had surgery to remove the lymph glands under my arm and may get lymphodema from any type of infection in that arm or hand.

I know I made a mistake but how to fix it!How do I get rid of my new fake nails? ( I have had anxillary surgery following breast cancer)?
First thing you need to do is wash your hands carefully with soap and water and if there is any broken skin or even suspected broken skin where the fingernail is sore you should apply antibiotic ointment for a couple days until you are sure there is no infection. You should do this same routine every time you have any potential skin breaks or scratches.

I'd go have the fake nails removed and then do the cleansing routines described above and hope that no infection gets started. Lymphedema can be a real pain and once it gets started you have to deal with it daily - all day every day. My advice is to always take very good care of your skin at all times because it just took a tiny nick to get my lymphedema started.

good luckHow do I get rid of my new fake nails? ( I have had anxillary surgery following breast cancer)?
i went to beauty school you take acetone nail polish remover put it in a glass bowl heat in microwave until warm not to hot but not cold soak hands and cover hands and bowl with a towel for a good 20 min then scrap off with butter knife repeat if necessary make sure you reheat!!!
try dipping your finger nails into an acetone based nail polish remoer and it should help to disolve the glue, it might take a few times but eventually they should all come off. Alternatively im sure u can get somethin from the chemist that will do the same thing
you can soak the finger in acetone finger nail polish remover it will take a while but the acetone will dissolve the finger nail

What solution could I use to get my fake nails off?

My nails are somewhat sore and I snag them on everything. What will get them off without going to the nail salon again. What solution could I use to get my fake nails off?
Girl - do not pop your nails off!

I agree that 100% acetone is the way to go. It stinks, and it takes a while, but your nails won't look like they've just been run through a cheese grater when you're done.

Something you can do to keep the smell down and to give yourself a bit more freedom is to rip 6 inch squares of aluminum foil, then soak a cotton ball in acetone, lay it on the top of your nail, and wrap the fingertip in aluminum foil. The foil holds the cotton in place, the cotton holds the acetone to your nail, and you get results without having to sit still for 40 minutes. What solution could I use to get my fake nails off?
put your hands in hot water for 5mins and pop them off
If you have acrylic over your fake nails, go to a beauty supply store and get 100% pure acetone, not nail polish remover with acetone. Cut the nails down to the base. Pour some acetone in a glass or ceramic bowl and soak your fingertips. It takes some time, but if you use an orange stick (for pushing your cuticles back) you can start to lift the acrylic off of your nail without harming them. When you have soaked them all off, make an appointment at your nail salon to get a basic manicure.

  • Why do my fingers itch badly for about two days after getting any type of fake nails?

Im assuming I am allergic to something that is being used and I trying to figure it out so I can maybe use an alternative. I do not get any sores or rashes, they just start itching around 4-6 hours after they are done, the second day is worse and then the third day it starts feeling better. After that they quit itching until I get them filled again. Why do my fingers itch badly for about two days after getting any type of fake nails?
You are definitely allergic to something that is being used. You could spend your time experimenting with different formulas being used by the salon. Try to get an ingredient listing for each one that you try and cross-check them.

You may have to try a different salon.

You may have to try different products at home.

You may want to go to your doctor for a referral to an allergist. If you are allergic to an ingredient in one of the formulas being used on your nails, you could encounter that same ingredient elsewhere.

And unfortunately, you may have to give up having your nails done. Do your research first, though, then make an informed decision. Why do my fingers itch badly for about two days after getting any type of fake nails?
    allergic is right.

ask them to see what is in the glue and filler and it they have a different kind. also see the home nail kits, some of them mght have different ingredients....there are donzens of ingredinets though so it would behard to tell which one is irritating you.

This is from past experience, but some of the guys I know, don't care what your nails look like, but if they're fake, they'll hate it. Some guys just don't like the fakey-ness of fake nails. Also, why would you want them? In the long run they kill your nails... and your nails will become brittle and cracky. I think it's disgusting. Anyway, fake nails, in the long run, make anyone look like a wannabe. Why does my boyfriend not like me getting fake nails?

    They are too long.

Its so hard to tell when you are getting them, but I can barely do anything with my hands now!

Yer u can . when i get mine done sometimes there to long so u just file them or cut them to make them more rounded if u like

    No.

a light color, nto something big.

What are the best fake nails to get?

I've never had nail extensions before but i really fancy getting some. I'm a complete novice to this, and dont really know what to ask for. I just want the natural looking nails with white tips, just so my nails look nice.

What do i ask for? What are the best fake nails to get?
Sculptured nails are the best, personally. Ive had the acrylics but found them uncomfortable and quite false looking. The sculptured don't use a false nail tip and layer on top its just a sticker placed on top of your own nail and gradually extended using gel..What are the best fake nails to get?
If you want a natural look ask for Gel Nails! I have mine done every 3-4 weeks and i would never be without them. I personally dont like the artificial look that come with nail extensions so i ask for them to be short in length and in a slightly round shape...square ones are too fake looking.
Acrylics are the strongest but bad for your natural nails

Gels are better for your nails but not as strong.

Or Fibreglass/ Silk nails are best for you natural nails but arent that strong.

There is a new type coming out called ';La Chat'; which are as strong as acrylics but as good for your nails like Gels

    Hope this helps
You can just ask for acrylics or gels with white tips.

If you want something nicer and you don't mind paying a bit more, ask for pink %26amp; whites. They'll form the white with white acrylic and fill the rest with pink.
The best fake nails are no fake nails. Keep your natural nails well manicured and rounded. Shorter, natural nails are in. Fake nails aren't classy anymore. I promise.
acrylic but they all mess up ur nails anyway and it sucks because it only lasts for 2 weeks so its kinda a waste
acrylic/gel nails with a french manicure.
Ask for Acrylics or Gel nails, they'll know what you're talking about :)

get a old tooth brush and scrub them with soap and then get a nail finger cleaner and get the rest of the stuff out of themHow can I get rid of the build up under my fake nails?
    Ick.

Acrylic nails are so disgusting, honestly.

    Mostly, for this reason.

They build up a whole lot of crap under them and that's where infections and such come from.

    Anyways,

Take an old tooth brush, put some dial soap on it, and scrub.

I'd seriously reccomend just taking them off and letting your real nails grow out.
Hold on there. This may be really serious. You do not say how long you have had this problem. You may have been infected by the tools used at the salon.

This may be your own nails being attacked by fungus. The build up you are seeing is really your own swelling nails tips decaying.

May I suggest that you have your doctor check this out. It is simple scraping. It takes two minutes.

There is medication, very expensive, but it works. If infected you will have to remove the fake nails.

I know three women who have lost their nails completely from fugal attack.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but ladies be aware that this fungus is nothing to play with.
Just take them them off and clean it up. Just paint your real nails.
use a nail brish and scrub.
I use an orange stick or the tip of a fine knife to clean under my nails.
Try a new manicurist. I've had acrylic nails for years and I don't get a build up under my nails. It may mean that the person at the salon is using too much prouct and creating a build-up, which isn't good either.

Keep 'em clean. Use a nail brush underneath.
scrape it out with something like a toothpick or the tip of a metal nail file, they have tools for it in manicure kits but i don't know what they are called

How can I remove fake nails without acetone?

I'm trying fake nails for the first time, but I want to make sure that I'll be able to get them off. I'm doing them myself, so they're the plastic glue-on kind, not the salon sort. The problem is, we don't have any acetone, only non-acetone nail polish. Is there anything else that would take them off that I'm likely to have in my house? Rubbing alcohol? Hydrogen peroxide? How can I remove fake nails without acetone?
You can get a cuticle stick and insert it under the corner where the false nail meets the base of your real nail. Then lightly use it as a lever to remove the false nail. This should work and without much pain as long as you haven't used lots of glue and it means you can re use them. I wore them last Haloween when I was a gothic vampire, painted black. How can I remove fake nails without acetone?
this sounds madd crazy but if you clip the top a little it should crack some and try to ease it off your natural nail
You don't have any nail polish remover? I did fake nails at a party once and even with acetone they were hard to get off and hurt really bad. And I totally soaked them in the remover. That's something I'm never going to do again. I would go get your nails professionally done, or the fake nails will eventually fall off without help.
Soak your nails in warm water, and then nail polish remover. That should do it. You might need to tug lightly on them, but not so hard so its hurts.

    Good Luck
soak them in warmish hot water...and then you have to kinda pull them off...

    or you gotta use acetone
soak them in warm water for a little while and then pull them off
u should go buy some nailpolish remover with acetone in it

How do you remove fake nails like a french manicure?

Heeeeelp! How do you remove fake nails like a french manicure?
oh honey! you poor thing! I know how bad that hurts. Go to walmart and buy something called pure acetone. make sure it is 100 %. pour some in a glass bowl and soak your nails for 10 minutes at a time. After each 10 mins take them out and wipe off the now gelled acrylic. proceed to soak again and again until they come off completely. I worked in a nail salon, don't trust anyone that tells you different. good luck hun. all the bestHow do you remove fake nails like a french manicure?
Polish remover doesn't work. You will need to use pure acetone. Pour some in a glass bowl and soak your nails. You will only be able to do one hand at a time. Soak them for about 20 minutes, then using an orangewood stick scrape off the loosened product. Soak and scrape until it's all off. If you remove your hand from the acetone while soaking it will start to set up again so keep it in the acetone.

If your acrylic nails had a gel overlay then you will need to file the top of the nail to break the seal of the gel otherwise the acetone won't budge the product.

get a bowl and put nail polish remover in it then soak ur nails in them and they should come of and if not go to the place where u got ur nails done and ask them how you can get them off

How do you remove fake nails you got done professionally?

Like remove them at home? How do you remove fake nails you got done professionally?
soak your nails in acetone based nail polish remover and they will melt off... that is how they do it when you go to the salon... just make sure to give your fingers a break every once in a while and wash throughly after and then moisturize, moisturize, moisturize... acetone is dryingHow do you remove fake nails you got done professionally?
After about 2 weeks of having them on you can stick them in nail polish remover! Let soak about 5 min and take out and try to remove, it takes the glue off, so if it's hard to get it off still soak for alittle longer. Also, at Shoppers Drug Mart, or any drugstore or Walmart they have actual remover you can buy!
I just carefully ripped them off. hurt like heck and my nails were crappy.
soak in polish remover of hot water....it will lift them....most salons will take them off for you and then apply some kind of liquid to make them strong again!
Well if you would rather do it yourself then soak them in acetone nail polish remover and then pull them off. I would suggest going to a nail salon and gettting them taken off professioanlly also. They will do a much better job and it wont be painful. Then they could give you a manicure after because your nails will be in pretty sh*ty condition lol.
I agree with ';Michelle';, that is how I take mine off. But I also use a Nail Brush after I soak my nails and Give them a good cleanning!
yeah but it hurts like he!! so I say let them come off by themselves

Worst case scenario, if you go to any nail salon they can remove them for you (but for a small fee, of course). How do you get fake nails off?
soak them in warm-hot water for up to 5 mins, then try peeling them off. if that doesnt work, try putting a cuticle softener or just a hand lotion all up and under the nails then get a pair of nail clippers and get the cleaner part out and try to pry them off while they are moistened. GOOD LUCK[: and congrats on the marriage.
Well, I heard soaking your hand in nail polish remover for while works. My cousin's girlfriend went to the nail place to get hers off because she didn't like how they looked. (She picky) After 3 weeks mine start coming off anyway, so, I haven't tried any of those. Just from what I hear and know from others.
as gross as this might sound,

    chew them off.

on the side of your nail,

there should be a little gap between your real nail and the fake nail and if you just kinda nibble at the fake nail for a bit,

the glue will loosen up and it'll come off.

might take a while but it works.
i know im a guy but ive head from other girls that u can go to the nail salon and they can do it for u or put nail polish remover in like a bowl and dip ur hands in it and leave it there until it is gone.
get some acetone and SOAK them in a bowl, and wipe w/ cotton ball/pads.file to get esess. it takes a while if you dont want to go get them took off.Don,t everripe them off it hurts and part of your nail may come off or brek way low in the bed.
you can use nail polish remover, hot water or go to a salon but it will cost you. you can also check out this website:

soak them in nail polish remover for an hour and rip them off. or go to someone who does nails.
my friend soaks them in nail polish remover or acetone.. .. works for her.. i normally just file them down .. (the top of the nails)
I would soak your hands in hot water and see if that helps.

  • Is there a way to get your fake nails taken off?

I got my nails done by a professional and im not happy. Im thinking of going back and gtting them taken off is there a way to do that?Is there a way to get your fake nails taken off?
There is a way for the nails to be removed. However, it can be painful and tedious.

The nail tech pops off the nails with a plier like tool. An experience tech will alwaya take their time and make sure the process is not too painful for you. Soaking your nails in acetone fluid will also help to soften the nails and make it easier for the tech to pop them off.

Depending on what you did not like about your nails the first time around, this may be a simple fix. The tech may only need to buff the top part of your nail and reapply the nail gel ( acrylic/fibergalss), much like when one gets a fill on a nail set.

Hope that helps! Is there a way to get your fake nails taken off?
    yes... rip em' off
Nail polish removers work, but they are not as strong as Acetone.

Nail polish removers are pretty much knock-off versions of Acetone, and are supposed to be used by licensed people or people who know what they're dealing with, ONLY.

Acetone's the best solution, and nail salons have it. (That's what they use)

It would be best if you'd go to a nail salon, because they know how to correctly remove your ';fake nails'; there. If you do it by yourself, you could hurt yourself, and/or damage your real nails. I've seen those kinds of things go really bad when peopel try to remove them, themselves.
Get a SALLY HANSEN product from Del Labs. They have a solution to almost any type of nail problem.
soak them in nail polish remover.
I just took my nails off, and I used Polish Off Artificial Nail Remover by Calico (white bottle) got it from Wal Mart for a little uder $2 buck. It worked reall good and fast, it took maybe an hour I watched a movie while letting them soak and got done before the movie ended.

I don't let the shop do it because they are too rough and the end up breaking my real nails. But the Nail Remover is basically Acetone
    yup rip them off
There is indeed a way to have them removed, but don't attempt to do it on your own. See a professional. After your articifical nails have been taken off, natural nails will take quiet sometime to recover. Use a good moisturizer 3-4 times daily because they will be dry and brittle. Moisturizer will help bond natural nail layers together and is also a good idea for people who have never had artifical nails. It keeps nails flexible, making them far less prone to splitting, peeling and breaking. Don't forget about your cuticles and beware of ';nail hardeners'; and ';strengthers'; because they will actually dry out nails further. You may apply a top coat though. Try to use polish remover as little as possible, avoid formulas that contain acetone.
soak them in straight acetone which can be found at your local hardware store . you'll need to soak them for like 30 minutes maybe more. That's how they take them off in the salon!
You can have the salon take them off for you, if you're willing to pay the money for them to do it. They soak your nails in acetone and then gently remove them, but you can do that at home by yourself. You can use nail polish remover with acetone it in, or paint thinner.
you can take them off by yourself but it can be painfull. You need something thin that u can slide between ur natural nail and the fake layer and peel it off that way. You can also go back to the nail professional and they will do the same for you. They can also use a really strong nailpolish to dissolve the nail, or you can buy it for yourself and try on ur own, but it is so strong that if u leave it on for too long it can start dissolving your own nail. Better go to a professional.
It's less painful and less of a hassle to just go to a nail salon and ask for a removal. They do all the work, make your natural nails as healthy as possible for something after that sort of thing, and you just have to sit there. It's not expensive either.

Is it worth it to get fake nails taken off at the salon?

I decided I dont want acrylic nails anymore. Last time I took them off myself, they were all thin and peeling, it looked gross. When you get the acrylic taken off at the salon, do they actually do something other than just take them off to make the natural nail underneath look better? Is it worth it to get fake nails taken off at the salon?
if its a good nail salon they wont actually remove them. when i wanted mine off the salon filed them right down to my natural nail length and blended the bottom in, then left them to grow out, this keeps the natural nail underneath protected, the only way to salvage nails that have had acrylics on is too grow them out.Is it worth it to get fake nails taken off at the salon?
nope they sure don't all they do is take a tip and push it between your nail and the acrylic to pop it off... and it hurts! at least when you do it yourself if you need to take a second bc it hurts you can...Your better off to save the couple of bucks do it yourself
i think it is less painful to have them taken off at the salon. i think they even them out better too. however, your nails will still be thin and peel for a while from the damage of fake nails. i wore acrylic nails for about a year and my real nails have never been the same.
no they don't... the best thing to do is get a bowl of hot water (as hot as you can stand) and add some nail varnish remover ..... soke your nails for about 20 minutes and then they should just pop off :).... put a layer of nail strengthener on them after... :), hope it helps xD

How can I take off fake nails without them messing up my real nails?

Without paying a person to do it or without soaking them in acetone nail polish? How can I take off fake nails without them messing up my real nails?
Are they acrylic? Well if they are you pretty much have to do one of those 2. And your real nails will probably be pretty messed up. When i took my nails off my real ones were super thin and broke really easy. How can I take off fake nails without them messing up my real nails?
Make sure you use an acetone nail polish remover. Clip your fake nails down to your original nail and then soak in the acetone nail polish remover. After you may want to condition your original nail with a good cuticle oil. Spread it on all over your nail and cuticle and let dry. Do this a couple of times a day, and your original nail will be good as new.
    peel it off slowly
yeah i'm thinking that there isn't much else that will work.
the only real way to get them off with minimal damage to your real nail is soaking them in acetone....peeling them off will peel of part of your real nails underneath and leave them extremely thin and fragile!!!!

soaking your nails in PURE acetone will only take 1/2 hour at the most for both hands....
    soak your nails in acetone.

    AND DON'T PULL THEM OFF.

    just let them melt off.

then rinse and wash your hands really well and put oil on your nails. acetone will really dry them out.
Soaking your nails in nail polish remover (acetone) is about the only way I know of removing them. Do not try to pry them off. You will damage your real nail badly.
i think those are the only two options u have.
use acetone on cotton balls and then place foil over your fingertips to hold the soaked cotton balls in polace, every 5 minutes or so take them off and scrape awy the plastic/acrylic as it melts, if you do it right it should do too much damage to your own nails. You could go have them removed for you would probably run $15-$25. Acetone is not that big of deal hon, much better than picking them off.
Sounds like you are out of options.
    You have two choices here.

You either soak them off yourself or you go have them taken off. Depending on how long you have worn them your nails are going to suffer the consequences anyway. Fake nails make your nails weak and thin. It will take time for them to restore back to normal.

Whatever you do DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT peal them off unless you want seriously damaged nail beds!
just go a nail place and ask them to take them off for u.
If you absolutely don't want to use acetone, then soak the heck out of them in warm, soapy water.
The only way I know is to soak them in acetone, because the only other way is to rip them off and that is going to really mess you real nails up. It will also hurt VERY bad. Good luck!
soak them in asatone till they melt...while doing that...take a pop-sickel stick or something like that and rub it in the nail at the same time.....helps to speed it up..
soak your nails in Hot-warm water then get a small peice of plastic like another fake nail or sometihng small u can put under the fake nai slide it between the fake and real nail. make sure its about ahs long as ur nails or it might tear your original nail a bit at the tip.

One of my fake nails is starting to come undone what should i do?

ive only had them fro aabout a week and i was planning on getting them filled on saturday but they arent really growing out that fast, and i dont want to get that one taken off and put on again thats just extra money, any ideaS?One of my fake nails is starting to come undone what should i do?
whatever you do..DON'T USE GLUE!! trying to repair it yourself only leaves that obvious glue line that squeezes out between the nail(you put too much its obvious..you put too little the nail will only break again, plus when you get a fill it'll be difficult to deal with that nail.you'll have to soak that nail in acetone for hours)..its hideous!!..go for nail repair..its your best betOne of my fake nails is starting to come undone what should i do?
You can go to the shop to just get that nail repaired, they usually only charge a few dollars. In the meantime, try using some nail glue on it.
If one of your nails is starting to come off and you need a quick fix you can always get some nail glue and gkue it back on. Or can can go back to where you got them done at and have them fix the nail.
you can use krazy glue (same type of glue they use at the salons) and just glue it back until u get ur nails filled thats the only way if u dont want to waste more money getting them all redone.
NEVER glue an artificial nail back on! Go back as soon as possible to have it repaired.

Gluing can cause water to be trapped between your nail and the artificial one where BACTERIA will grow and turn your nail green. (It's not fungus, it's pseudomonas bacteria)

Until you can go back, put a few drops of rubbing alcohol where the nail is lifted to dry out any water settling under it. This will help prevent the bacteria from thriving. Do that every night before bed.
Have the ppl at the salon put on a new one cuz that one that is coming of can crack more and get water under it so if you glue it down your self it can grow fungus under it. Its only 3 dollars for a fix, its worth it cuz it will look as good as the rest of your nails. Please add me to your contacts
go have them filled and get that one put back on at the same time, it's only like 3 dollars to have one put back on...beside that way they will all look the same and they will all grow out the same.
go back to the place that did your nails and tell them that you were there a week ago and your nail is already starting to come off and they may do it over for you .or just wait until you go back for your refill
I think you should go see the person that put them on. You should have them taken off and ask them what the reason is.

Do i need to take my fake nails off for surgery?

I just got my nails done yesterday; i got acrylics. I am also getting surgery tomorrow and am getting anesthesia for it. Do i have to take off my acrylics for some kind of medical reason? Please explain to me if i need to remove them or just some of them, and why i would need to do this. Also what are the bad effacts of not removing them?Do i need to take my fake nails off for surgery?
The main reason to have them off is so that your anesthesiologist can see the true color of your fingernails. This is an indicator of whether you have adequate oxygen levels in your body.

They may be able to look at your toenails instead.

CALL THE DOCTOR';S OFFICE NOW TO ASK.

good luck with your surgery. I hope it goes well.Do i need to take my fake nails off for surgery?
You could remove one. The reason you shouldn't wear them is they look at your fingertips to see if you are getting enough O2. Not enough and your fingertips will turn blue. They will most likely give you oxygen anyway. Call the hospital where you are having the surgery and double check with them on their policy.
    they should tell you

when i go for surgery ( i have surgery every 6 weeks on scars from a wreck )

they tell me not to wear anything on my nails because the color of your nails during surgery has something to do with your temperature or something

the pink tones in your nails is important, thats all i know

have surgery a lot! lol i would NOT wear them
I dont see why you would have too.

The best option is ringing the hospital upp and ask them.

But i am pretty sure that they would be no problem at all.

i think that the only problem you would have if you were having surgery on your hand or nails, but if not then you dont have too take them off.

    Good luck in surgery. x
Depends on the type of surgery. Some surgeries make you remove all nail polish to make sure your nails don't change colors because thats a sign of something wrong. If your doctor hasn't said anything about taking off all nail polish, then you should be fine.
You would need to contact your doctor or surgeon. In most cases only the pointer finger nail on both hands need to be removed, this is because the doctors put the oxygen monitor on that finger. The acrylic sort of works as a block for the monitor to get a good reading
ABSOLUTELY YES YES YES. Take them off, or else somebody will take them off for you.

Your circulation is often tested by merely pressing down on your nails until they blanch, then letting go in order to see how quickly the capillaries refill.
Well it depends on where they do the surgery and who is doing it. A lot of doctors don't like having their patients wear then during surgery. Just ask your doctor. that is the only way to get a 100% yes or no answer.
Never heard of having to take off fake nails before. Wash your hands, and should not be a problem.

You aren't having your hands amputated I hope.
unless the surgery you are having is directly related to your fingernails then they should stay put....
Nope. I had mine on during a c-section and an ovarian cyst removal. Nobody ever told me anything. :)
    no, its fine.

just let the doctor know you have them.. if it was a major prob, they wouldnt do anything with you.

but im pretty sure theyre okay :)
It would depend on the type of surgery you're having.
no im pretty sure you dont need to

because when i was getting surgery they didnt tell me i needed to.
I don't think it will make a difference if you do or not so keep em on and as em at the hospital when you get there
um why would you? unless like youre getting some kind of surgery on your hands i dont see any reason why you would.
what are you having surgery for?
    ask your doctor.
i wouldnt think you would have to take your nails off....who knows these days lol
